Places: Fulton Fish Market

The Fulton Fish Market was a fish market located in the South Street Seaport neighborhood of Lower Manhattan in New York City. It was one of the largest wholesale fish markets in the world and was in operation from 1822 until 2005.

The Fulton Fish Market was known for its wide variety of seafood, including fish, shellfish, and crustaceans, and for its bustling atmosphere. The market was open early in the morning, with fishmongers and buyers from restaurants, grocery stores, and other businesses bidding on the day's catch.

Over the years, the Fulton Fish Market faced challenges such as outdated facilities, competition from other markets, and concerns about sanitation and food safety. In 2005, the market was relocated to a new facility in the Bronx, where it continues to operate today.

The former Fulton Fish Market building in Manhattan has been redeveloped into a retail and entertainment complex known as the Fulton Market Building, which includes restaurants, shops, and event spaces.
